A popular part of the Ignatian way of praying is to use the imagination to place yourself in a gospel scene with Jesus. As you are reading or listening to the gospel let it play out in your mind as if it were a film on the TV; watching what is happening to the main characters. Or perhaps you can participating as one of the characters as the stroy goes on. Which character can you relate to best at this time? Can you imagine yourself in that person's position in the encounter with Jesus? Hear and see what is going on in the story and maybe be surprised as your imagination reminds you or reveals something new about Jesus or your relationship with God.
Try this with the story of Jesus's encounter with Bartameaus, the blind beggar. Click on the arrow below and pray with the story as it unfolds. Don't judge your experience of the prayer. All that matters is that Jesus is with you as you listen.
