We can be fooled into thinking that prayer acts like a spiritual aspirin, something to take away the pain quickly. We'd be wrong. Prayer is a chance to be yourself with God, and to let God be God, too.
Be yourself..that's not always easy, especially in the middle of tough times when the last place you want to be is here and the last person you want with you is you. It can feel as if you are caught up in a storm, feelings and thoughts everywhere. Where is God in it?
Look at the video link below, If you think it might help, do the same kind of reflection and writing for yourself. Then click on the audio clip to listen to the story of the storm at sea. You will hear a 400 year old way of praying with scripture and will be invited to imagine the scene, in the storm, perhaps you in the storm..... and Jesus with you in it all.
Click on sound button below to listen to the story of the storm at sea from Matthew's Gospel. The music you hear in the back ground is Bi, A Iosa, Im Chroi-Se, which means 'Jesus is living in my heart'. It is a reminder of Jesus within you as you pray.
